On Saturday, March 22, we are offering 2 GRAVEL routes for everyone, both as preparation for the Granfondo and for those who love this type of cycling. You can register up until the day of the ride. Full reading of the rules is required, and online pre-registration is mandatory.

“MONTEFIORE” ROUTE

The “Monterfiore” route, less challenging but equally fun and scenic, will allow you to test yourself on gravel roads and single tracks. The climb of “Urbotto,” which begins at an ancient sulfur mine along the “Ventena di Gemmano” stream, winds through a forest of centuries-old oaks and will take you to the Malatesta Fortress of Montefiore Conca, where the return journey will begin, following the track of the “Onferno” route.

“ONFERNO” ROUTE

The “Onferno” route, designed for the more demanding biker, was created by the organization to highlight the natural resources that the Valconca region has to offer. After crossing gentle vineyards near the coast and scenic climbs, you will reach the entrance to the “Grotte di Onferno” (Onferno Caves), located within the Onferno Nature Reserve. This karst complex has been known since the 19th century, where two small streams converge and flow for a short underground stretch. Here, time seems to stand still, and your heart will open to ancient emotions. The desire to remain in touch with nature will make you linger in these enchanted places. After reaching the ridge above the caves, on the return journey, you will pass through the Malatesta Fortress of Montefiore Conca, a medieval stronghold with austere, angular shapes. Inside, you can observe picturesque corners of peace. Upon reaching Morciano di Romagna, the Conca River bike path will guide you to the well-deserved final destination, the Green Pearl of the Adriatic.

REGULATION OF THE Riccione Gravel

Saturday ride for both participants and non-participants of the Granfondo Riccione.

  1. During the “ride,” all roads along the route will be open to road traffic.
  2. Each participant agrees to follow and respect the traffic laws.
  3. Venerdì 21 Marzo dalle ore 18 verrà inviata la traccia GPX del percorso che dovrà essere scaricata autonomamente sui vostri dispositivi GPS/smartphone. Dichiariamo che l’unico percorso valido ed autorizzato dall’organizzazione e dalle forze di pubblica sicurezza sarà quello della traccia GPX fornita.
    In alternativa, il giorno della conferma ISCRIZIONE 10.1, tramite Qrcode, si potrà scaricare il file GPX della traccia.
  4. Upon registration confirmation, each participant will be given 1 pass valid for access to the refreshment station along the route at the designated partner facility.
  5. By freely requesting registration for the event “La Perla Verde Gravel di Riccione,” each participant declares to:
    1. have acknowledged that the “ride” is a non-competitive endurance event, requiring significant physical and mental effort, with no rankings.
    2. be in excellent physical and mental condition on the day of the event (March 23, 2025), with no apparent contraindications, allowing for the safe completion of this cycling excursion, which includes numerous and extensive off-road sections, with full regard for one’s own physical well-being.
    3. Be aware that, since the route is always open to road traffic with many and extensive off-road sections, some parts of the route may be particularly steep and rugged, and therefore require good cycling skills. If lacking such skills, the cyclist, at their discretion, should walk the difficult section by dismounting from the bike.
    4. To tackle the challenging sections of the route (gravel paths, trails, stream crossings, riverbanks and embankments, steep ascents, steep descents, etc.) with the utmost caution, without posing a danger to themselves or other cyclists; and to avoid such sections by choosing alternative routes they deem safer for their own safety.
    5. To be in possession of a repair kit for mechanical issues and punctures, and to wear a rigid helmet as mandatory.
    6. To be in possession of a membership with an ASD (Sports Association) regularly affiliated with an entity recognized by CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee) and, therefore, to have submitted to the ASD the medical certificate of fitness for sports activities as required by DM 24/04/2013.
    7. To have read and understood the route itinerary, the associated altitudes, the program, and the weather and road conditions that could be challenging (sun, wind, rain, hail, lightning, cold, fog, tornadoes, stray and/or wild animals, etc.).
    8. To be fully aware of the rules of the Highway Code and commit to respecting them, avoiding any violations.
    9. To not resort to doping, drugs, medications, or any substances that may alter athletic performance or otherwise cause harm or danger to oneself or others, and to have signed the self-certification required pursuant to DPR 445 of 28/12/2000.
    10. To fully accept the rules and regulations, without any reservations.
  6. The event may be postponed to another date in case of particularly adverse weather conditions or roads that are impassable for bicycles due to previous rainfall. At the last moment, the routes may also change due to road conditions and/or specific weather events, landslides, etc.

  9. PRE-REGISTRATION

  10. REGISTRATION AND PARTICIPATION FEES
    1. The GPX track will be sent to all registered participants by March 21, 2025 at 12:00.
    2. Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who will assume all responsibilities.
    3. Participants with a minimum age of 13 are allowed to start, provided they are members of an affiliated organization.
    4. Registration fee:
      1. € 20 until 22 march 2025
      2. Registration fee: €30.00 from March 16 to March 21, 2025 at 18:00.
        The registration fee includes: race pack, one refreshment station along the Onferno route, one refreshment station along the Montefiore route and a final refreshment at the arrival point in P.le Ceccarini.
  11. ADMISSION CRITERIA AND REQUIRED MEDICAL CERTIFICATES
  12. Cyclists who are not in compliance with the 2025 membership with an ASD will not be admitted or accepted.
    1. For pre-registration and actual registration for the route, a valid membership with an ASD affiliated with one of the sports promotion organizations recognized by CONI (ACSI, AICS, ASC, ASI, Acli, CSAIN, CSEN, CSI, CSN, CUSI, ENDAS, FCI, Libertas, MSP, OPES, PGS, UCI, UISP, US) is required.

  16. CANCELLATION OR POSTPONEMENT OF THE EVENT
    1. At the sole discretion of the organization, the “ride” will be postponed in case of heavy rain or if the roads become impassable due to heavy rainfall in the days preceding the event. In the interest of participant safety, the organization reserves the right— even at the last moment and without prior notice—to change the format and route or to postpone the event to a later date to be determined.
  17. VARIATIONS
    1. The organization reserves the right to make changes to the regulations at any time. The website https://www.granfondoriccione.it is the sole official source of information for the event. Therefore, all official communications will be made available exclusively through it.
  18. EVENT CHARACTERISTICS – WARNINGS
    1. The Perla Verde Gravel di Riccione is a non-competitive, recreational cycling ride, conducted as a personal cycling excursion.
    2. It takes place on gravel roads, dirt paths, carriageways, countryside trails, footpaths, and paved sections.
    3. During the “ride,” the entire route will always be open to traffic, and no control personnel will be present. Therefore, it is MANDATORY for all participants to adhere to the Highway Code. Mechanical assistance is not provided.
    4. A doctor and an ambulance of category A will be stationed along the route.
    5. During the event, cyclists who are not properly registered will not be allowed to join the groups, under penalty of being removed. In case of an accident, they will be held responsible for any damages caused.
    6. At the time of registration, each participant commits to ensuring that the areas traversed, especially those near the refreshment stations, are kept CLEAN.
  19. By requesting to participate in the non-competitive ride, as a personal cycling excursion in any of the ways outlined in this regulation, each participant:
    1. declares that they have read and approved this regulation and accept all of its terms.
    2. assumes responsibility for their own behavior during and after the event.
    3. declares to be in good physical condition and to have undergone a medical fitness check-up for competitive cycling or non-competitive sports activities with high cardiovascular effort (depending on the chosen route), providing the organization with full indemnity for any damage they may suffer or cause as a result of their participation in the “ride.”
    4. consents to the use of their personal data, including for commercial purposes.
    5. grants the organizers full consent to use, in ways permitted by law, even for profit, any video, photographic, or other images of their person taken during the event, from the moment of registration, providing the organization with the right to transfer such images to third parties; expressly authorizes the organization, free of charge, to use still and/or moving images featuring their person, captured during the event, throughout its duration. This authorization for the use of their image is granted indefinitely and without territorial limits worldwide, for use in publications and various videos, including, but not limited to, promotional and/or advertising materials, produced on all media. The organization may also transfer the usage rights outlined in this agreement to third parties and its institutional and commercial partners.
    6. is aware that there is a healthcare service available for the event (Category A ambulance and doctor), but no mechanical assistance is provided.
    7. is aware that participation in the cycling excursion is always a voluntary choice and for recreational purposes.
    8. is aware that the event organizers are free from, and in any case relieved of, any responsibility related to the cycling excursion. They are also relieved from any responsibility regarding incidents involving the cyclist or third parties, such as accidents, getting lost, physical problems, injuries, thefts, etc.
    9. waives any legal action of any kind against the organizers, also acknowledging that the event is a non-professional initiative carried out purely for recreational purposes.
